Chicago’s South Loop is the perfect location for a condo development like Riverline. As a massive undertaking, this development takes advantage of the stunning river features and close proximity to downtown that modern buyers want. With the first building in the project breaking ground in 2016, the plan is to build up to 10 buildings in the area and create a new community in the area that 3,600 people will call home.

Much like the exterior of the building, the Riverline Chicago units blend functionality, style, and sustainability. Although all 10 buildings in the plan offer something different, they will have a refined style that is carried throughout. For example, the most recent building, Ancora, features an exciting industrial design with lots of glass, concrete, and steel while the next project slated for development, Current, will feature a subtler nod to the industrial style. Both high-rise and townhouse options will give buyers some choice when it comes to size and convenience, and features like huge windows, energy-efficient appliances, and open-concept layout will offer a spacious, crisp, and clean outlook. Architects Perkins + Will and landscape architects, Hoerr Schaudt are currently keeping many details under wraps, but buyers can expect a clean, cohesive look to the units that complements and innovates the current market trends
Located on a massive 14-acre plot of land in Chicago’s South Loop, Riverline Chicago will be comprised of 10 exceptionally modern and functional buildings once all is said and done. Currently there is one rental building complete – Ancora – with another on the way soon. The buildings will include both high-rise and three story townhomes, creating a dynamic and varied landscape that will help make Riverline become it’s own mini neighborhood in the already popular South Loop.
With the use of steel, concrete, and glass, the buildings appear to favor the industrial style, perfect for the Chicago River front once regarded as Chicago’s “Industrial Highway.” The buildings will include plenty green space and exclusive features that promote sustainability.
The first building in the group, Ancora is a 28-story rental building with 452 units, a sundeck and a parking garage that fits 230 cars. Next is the building known as Current; with 18 stories and 251 units. Before the project is complete, we will see up to 10 buildings in the area including both high rises and townhomes on the riverfront. Although all the buildings will offer some differences, they will carry the similar styling throughout, with the use of similar materials and techniques, and, of course, the stunning and innovative landscaping provided by Hoerr Schaudt.
Riverline Chicago is located in the trendy South Loop neighborhood. Bordered by the river and downtown, South Loop is a treasure trove of cultural wonders, nightlife, dining, and more. Places like the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium are just a few of the spots that make up The Museum Campus, a treasured spot that many locals love to enjoy.
South Loop is also home to Grant Park, which is a 319-acre park filled with beautiful green space and also happens to be the location of many popular Chicago festivals like Lollapalooza, Taste of Chicago, and the Chicago Blues Festival.
Many homes in the area pay homage to South Loop’s industrial past with the Motor Row District and Printer’s Row District, which contain beautiful homes and industrial lofts. There are also miles of trails, walking paths, and more green space in the area for outdoorsy homeowner to take advantage of right outside their door.
Currently, the area is experiencing rejuvenation and is enjoying some redevelopment with trendy restaurants, clubs, music venues, and more filling the area and breathing new life into it.
The Riverline developers have captured the mellow and diverse vibe in South Loop and are applying it to the new projects. Working on the concept of “urban nature” these developments enable homeowners to enjoy the Chicago River and all its natural amenities while remaining close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago.
