Given River North pet-friendly condos are extremely popular among today’s home buyers, it’s also important for those same buyers to know exactly where to take their dog once moving to the neighborhood. As most dog owners who already live in the city know, Chicago is extremely dog friendly, with dog parks and open spaces available to residents in nearly every single neighborhood in town.
Specifically, River North is one of those downtown neighborhoods that’s great for dogs and their owners, as the area is home to two primary off-leash dog parks that are centrally located in the area. The first, Ohio Place Dog Park, isn't terribly easy to find, but it’s a neighborhood gem that continues to be a popular spot for locals to bring their pups to run around and burn off some of that built-up energy that never seems to go away entirely.
Located at 350 W. Ohio Street, the Ohio Place Dog Park is long and narrow, which is probably why it’s so easy to overlook. There are two different entryways to the park—one off Orleans and Ohio and the other off Kingsbury and Ohio—and if you’re looking a nice park that’s pretty easy to access, this isn’t a bad option.
The other primary River North dog park, located at 630 N. Kingsbury, is the Ohio Street Dog Park. A triangular shaped park with a gravel base, this well-known spot is accommodating to dogs of all sizes and is probably a better option for canines who like to run around. Although the gravel can sometimes get your pooch a little dusty, I guess it’s still a better alternative to mud, right?
