It's almost here! The 13th annual Taste of River North festival, a three-day, family-friendly entertainment, arts and food event that goes from Friday, July 18 to Sunday July 20 at A. Montgomery Ward Park (Kingsbury and Erie). This event is renowned for its food, world-class art as well as great music.
Some of the River North area's restaurants will be out giving demonstrations of health menu items. Some of these restaurants include Havana, Blackfinn Ameripub, Chopping Block, Pranzi, Kendall College and Enolo Wine Bar.
Kids will enjoy the Kids Zone where they can play on the playground, get their face painted, check out the amazing balloon artists and stilt walkers. The kids zone is open 12-6 pm Saturday and Sunday only.
Bands and artists on the bill include: Funky Monks (a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band; playing on Friday), Sixteen Candles (on Saturday), The Main Squeeze (Sunday) and Led Zepppelin 2(also on Sunday).
For public transportation, take Chicago Brown, Chicago Red or Grand Blue. If you're catching a bus to the site, take the #65 or #66.
If you decide to drive down, these are the commercial parking lots near the site: lot under the Ohio/Ontario feeder ramp on the east side of Kingsbury; garage at the northeast corner of Larrabee and Chicago Avenue (4 blocks north); garage in the Kingsbury Plaza building at the southwest corner of Grand and Kingsbury (2 blocks south); lot at the southeast corner of Kingsbury and Illinois (3 blocks south); lot at the northeast corner of Kingsbury and Hubbard (4 blocks south).
The festival hours are as follows:
- Friday: 5 - 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 12 - 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 - 8 p.m.
