Have you noticed landscaping trucks and crates and crates of new plants, as well as new, full-grown trees spread all the North Lawn Patio at 500 W. Superior Street? It’s because one of Chicago’s most prestigious condo buildings, The Montgomery, is getting a facelift!
Construction and landscaping crews are working hard to upgrade the North Lawn Patio at this phenomenal Chicago development.
The Montgomery has undergone much change since it’s construction in 1972. Designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, this development was built as the headquarters of The Montgomery Ward Company—a historic American department store.
Luxury Condos in the Heart of Chicago
After Montgomery Ward closed its retail doors indefinitely, the headquarters opened its doors for homebuyers.
In 2005, The Montgomery in River North was converted into a luxury condo building that caters to even the most lavish lifestyles.
This condo building offers its residents phenomenal amenities like a rooftop terrace and a state-of-the art fitness center. It also has a gorgeous lounge room where residents can host parties and dinners with friends and family.
The Montgomery condos were built with the utmost craftsmanship and the highest-quality materials. These condos are absolutely stunning with floor-to-ceiling windows that display spectacular views of the downtown cityscape.
A Revolutionary Chicago Institution
Aaron Montgomery Ward founded the famous department store in 1872 that revolutionized the way Americans shop today.
While working as a travelling salesman in rural America, Ward found that customers from these areas wanted access to the same goods shoppers could buy in the city.
So, Ward created Montgomery Ward—a company where rural customers could purchase goods by mail and pick them up at their nearest train station.
Montgomery Ward evolved over the years to become a department store that sold goods like furniture, tools, home appliances, and clothing.
This company has a rich history that still resonates today. Montgomery Ward was the company that brought the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer into existence through a Christmas marketing campaign. The company is also credited as one of the first retail businesses to sell IBM and Apple products to consumers.
We’re so excited to see the new changes being made to The Montgomery’s courtyard! It’s yet another exciting milestone in the building's rich history.
Stay tuned next week to see the stunning after photos!
