If you're looking into Old Town real estate, you'll quickly learn about Gepperth's. The legendary meat market has been a neighborhood staple for over 100 years. It's become kind of an attraction, historical landmark and mythical favorite among foodies. It's boasts some of the finest cuts of meat in the United States and offers customers exotic meats like alligator and boar.
When it comes to restaurants, Old Town - in true Chicago style - doesn't disappoint. There are dozens of family-owned restaurants in the neighborhood. Some of the good ones include Twin Anchors, Balena, and Boka. In addition, you'll find plenty of local watering holes throughout Old Town.
Old Town condos are a good option in the neighborhood, where everything is pretty much nearby and you don't really need a car (and the CTA Purple and Brown lines run through the neighborhood). When it comes to getting out and having fun, Old Town is adjacent to the southern end of Lincoln Park. The North Avenue Beach Volleyball Courts are close by, while Lincoln Park is a great place to get out for a nice leisurely stroll.
In Old Town, you'll find an area with plenty of amenities and plenty to do. Old Town just happens to have a couple of the best comedy clubs in Zanies and The Second City, along with a good theatre scene. There is also the Old Town Triangle Arts Center.
Shoppers enjoy the boutiques (check out Vagabonds) and unique shops along Wells Street (part of the busy main strip that runs from Division St. to North Ave).
