The South Loop real estate market really started booming in the early 2000s, but like a lot of places around the United States, it also took a fairly significant hit during the housing crash in ’08 and ’09. Since the market recovery however, South Loop real estate has been slowly gaining momentum within the Chicago real estate market, and buyers searching downtown can really find some exceptional deals on both newer construction condos and older, more established buildings positioned throughout the neighborhood. If you’ve narrowed down your home or condo search to the South Loop, try browsing the available units in these top neighborhood condo buildings: 1111 S. Wabash, 1201 S. Prairie, and 1160 S. Michigan Avenue.
Another positive aspect about South Loop real estate for sale is the close proximity and easy access to the Loop via the CTA Red Line, as well as a host of downtown Chicago attractions such as Grant Park, Soldier Field, and the 57-acre Museum Campus. Several distinguished sub-neighborhoods are considered to be part of Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood, which include the likes of Dearborn Park, Printer’s Row, and the newly developed Museum Park.
Check out South Loop lofts as the area is arguably Chicago’s hottest neighborhood for authentic loft condos for sale. Printer’s Row, which originally got its name from all the former publishing businesses and printing warehouses along Plymouth Court and Congress Parkway, is the South Loop’s flagship district for converted residential lofts, but other fabulous loft options are scattered all throughout the area, many of which tend to be more favorably priced than lofts for sale in other trendy parts of downtown like River North and the West Loop. While dozens of loft conversions are located in the South Loop, some of the neighborhood’s more desired buildings include 1530 S. State Street, 547 S. Clark Street, 720 S. Dearborn, and 530 S. State Street.
